Eid Kyrkje organ in Norway was a 2 manual organ, built 1961, by Jørgensen; the church had attempted to add to it themselves by incorporating another Jørgensen redundant in a local parish. The materials, pipes and Kegelade type chests were first class factory made but desperately in need of some sensible reuse and finishing. We made in house a new 3 manual drawstop console and with a new system reset the job with a practical specification. (We removed a Gemshorn unit from the back of the swell extended 16ft – 1ft which was inaudible and placed there instead the Trumpet unit 16, 8 & 4 – which can be heard).

The church has an English organist and he also requested a secondhand Tuba. I had in the workshop the treble of a Posaune unit and we installed this, from tenor F#, and called it Posaune Magna 8ft, for its bass we borrowing from their pedal Posaune 16.

Their pipework was good, the scales very classical and the flutes quite enormous just longing to be put on good balanced speech. The wind pressures were all too low and these we revised upwards to project the tone forward from the deep West gallery and chamber behind. The Posaune Magna, is on 200mm wind. We also supplied a record and playback facility so that the organ can reproduce what has been played.
